Crochetville Update

Good News: The migration to the new server is complete, and the site is up and running on that new server.

Bad News: We have to wait for the internet to repopulate itself with the new addresses for our domain name servers. Due to the way our nameservers are identified, our old site host may need to delete our old account before members will be directed to the new site. We are awaiting confirmation on this from our old site host.

Once the old site host has deleted things for us, it can take up to 72 hours (on average) for the domain name server change to take effect across the entire internet. Some people may find that their ISP finds us again before the ISPs of other people. If this happens, and your ISP is slow in relocating us, we really regret there's nothing at all we can do about that. You'll unfortunately just have to wait until your ISP finds us again.

  • amy thank you for telling us, i am glad its done and i know many others will be too, as for the length of time it will take, well nothing we can do about it but hope it takes less time than the worst case senerio, thanks to both you and donna for taking care of our needs hugs

  • I guess I'm a little confused. Depending on our ISP, some will be able to access the 'ville before others? Will we have the reregister or anything? And will it affect those who are starting class this Monday?

(Confused, but thankful that the move is complete)

  • Yes, some people may be able to access Crochetville before others. We can't do anything about that.

No, there is no need to reregister. Everybody's username and password will stay the same. For all our members, it will be like nothing ever happened.

The class is not starting Monday. It starts October 8.

  • Amy, you should be able to post the specific address for people to go to directly. This is the string of numbers that your domain name redirects to. That way, people can still access the Ville.

  • Oh, never mind, I'm thinking domain pointing instead of your hosting ISP repointing the DNS to your new server address. Gack.
